Memorial Day Picnic

As part of America 250, this year’s Community Picnic, following the Memorial Day Ceremony, will be expanded to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States while we remember those who served our country.

12:30 – 3 p.m. | Community Picnic | 80 W. Bridge St.

Join us for this community event featuring games, entertainment and family-fun activities on the lawn in front of Indian Run Elementary. Lunch will be provided to all who attend, while supplies last.

3 p.m. | National Moment of Silence

The event will end with the City of Dublin participating in the National Moment of Silence to honor our heroes.

Memorial Day Community Picnic Sponsors

Keynote Speaker: Colonel Andrew P. Powers

Colonel Andrew P. Powers is the Commander of the 121st Air Refueling Wing, Ohio Air National Guard, located at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio. He is responsible for the operations, training, and equipping of more than 1,300 personnel and 12 KC-135R aircraft as the Wing supports global refueling and combat support missions.

He enlisted in 1995 as a Security Forces specialist, beginning more than 30 years of military service, and was promoted to colonel in November 2022. Over his career, he has held numerous leadership and command roles across operations, planning, and intelligence including positions at the 178th Wing and 121st, the National Guard Bureau, and Joint Forces Headquarters-Ohio.

A level II Joint Qualified Officer and Command Pilot with more than 2,870 flight hours, he has participated in multiple major operations, including Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Inherent Resolve, completing over 130 combat and combat support sorties. Col. Powers has received numerous awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and has earned several distinctions for leadership and academic excellence. A 1994 Dublin High School graduate, he was a 2025 inductee into the Dublin City Schools Hall of Fame.

Beyond his military career, Dublin native Col. Powers is committed to serving his community. He has held numerous volunteer positions, including serving as a former secretary of the Hemingway Village Civic Association and Cub Master at Scottish Corners Elementary. He is currently a member of the advisory board for the Dublin City Schools Aviation Academy.

2026 Event Details

The ceremony will include various guest speakers and music by the Dublin Jerome High School Marching Band. The general public is invited and encouraged to attend. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs for your comfort. Free parking is available at Dublin Community Church and additional parking can be found throughout Historic Dublin.

Dublin Connector

The Dublin Connector bus will operate during the 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony. Dublin Residents 55 years of age or older and individuals with disabilities can call 1.833.742.7333 to schedule a ride.

  • One caregiver may join the rider and must be included in the reservation.
  • Pickup/Drop-off location: Dublin Cemetery, 83 W. Bridge St.

    * The Dublin Connector is sponsored by the City of Dublin and operated by SHARE Mobility. To use the Dublin Connector, riders should create a SHARE Mobility account. Trips must be booked at least two hours in advance and can be booked through the SHARE Mobility app, the Dublin Connector website or by calling 833.742.7333. To learn more about the Dublin Connector, visit dublinohiousa.gov/mobility/#connector.

    Accessible Parking

    Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Dublin Cemetery. Additional parking is available at the Dublin Community Church and along Monterey Dr.

    Accessible Seating

    Shaded accessible seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis under a white tent in front of the podium at the Memorial Day Ceremony. Should you need additional chairs during the ceremony, please see any City of Dublin Employee for assistance.  

    ASL Interpreter

    American Sign Language Interpreters are provided during the Memorial Day Ceremony.

    Restrooms

    There are no restrooms at the Dublin Cemetery. However, accessible portable restrooms will be available at the Community Picnic.
